ABOUT THE ARTIST
Paris is Monique
Spinabella’s native city. WWII caused her to be raised by her grandparents in
the Loire Valley. Early on, Monique imitated her grandfather who was a
painter. Her grandmother’s flower garden and many pets were the subjects of
her first attempts at Art.
After returning to
Paris, Monique enrolled in Ecole Charles-Marguerite, an Art School near the
Louvre where she studied and reproduced the Masters.
Marriage, motherhood,
and moving to the U.S. took Monique on another course featuring US citizenship,
the enrichment of travels, and a career. Retirement brought a return to the joy
of painting, and her pursuit of Art studies. She took classes at various
institutions (including Scottsdale Artists School), and attended numerous
seminars with several respected Artists. Employed at the Scottsdale Museum of
Contemporary Arts, Monique expanded her interest in new means of expression, and
experienced with new media. She is a member of the Scottsdale Artists League,
the Arizona Artists Guild, Critique Encounters XII and the Phoenix Artists
Guild. She was accepted into the Arizona Art Alliance as a juried member.
Monique has participated
in many juried Art shows and sold her works locally, state wide, and abroad.
She has been a volunteer Art instructor for the Arizona Art Alliance outreach
program for incarcerated youth at “Eagle Point” in Buckeye.
