JULIE FRYE
ARTIST'S STATEMENT
In general, any artist worth his "salt" strives to
achieve excellence in drawing, understanding color, composition, etc.
Thankfully, study with excellent teachers, and many years of practical
experience and teaching the craft, these aims have been met. But my focus,
my enjoyment, my fulfillment in my work stems from the study of light and
shadow. More than being simply an interruption of light, shadows provide
value contrast, compositional elements and areas filled with color! I am a
realist painter. Every subject I select to render on canvas or watercolor
paper must excite me with nuances of color and the interplay of light and
shadow - otherwise it is not worth painting!" Julie is a juried
artist with
Arizona Art Alliance.
